Charity Event in Oudenbosch – Performance of “Myna Mazaylo” Apeldoorn en Groningen

Remember Together Alliance, an association of Ukrainian diaspora organizations in the Netherlands, is organizing a series of events to mark the third anniversary of Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Ukrainian theater in the Netherlands, Theater van Vrienden, has also joined the alliance. Our main goal is to bring an incredibly important and relevant performance to Ukrainian refugees in the most remote cities of the country. This is a charity event, open to all Ukrainians.

“Myna Mazaylo” tells the story of a civil servant from Kharkiv who, plagued by a deep sense of inferiority, believes his failures are due to his Ukrainian surname. In an attempt to change it to a more "prestigious" Russian name, he gathers his family for a discussion.

This tragicomedy was written almost 100 years ago by the outstanding Ukrainian playwright Mykola Kulish but remains relevant today. The play raises important questions about language, self-identity, and national consciousness that strongly resonate with the current reality.

Filled with sharp satire and witty humor, the performance touches on profound social issues, while the captivating characters make it an immersive and unforgettable experience.
